Britt Hallowell

Britt Hallowell’s paintings are typically minimalist in application with organic themes such as nature, animals and trees.  Britt is intrigued by the natural weathering process created by the elements and thereby utilizes real rust in her work.  The results are always surprising and can never by fully duplicated, as something even as simple as temperature and humidity can drastically affect the outcome.  Often, Britt will also incorporate multiple types of plaster layered over several days.

The goal is to evoke positive emotions for the viewer through use of imagery, color and splatter.  Britt tries to create art that is warm and inviting to the viewer.

Britt is a self-taught artist and prefers it that way.  “I did not want to be taught someone else’s way to create.  I’m not constricted by rules, but I’m able to try anything and everything and learn from my own successes and failures rather than someone else’s.  Oftentimes it’s the mistakes that make something beautiful!”  Britt lives in Ohio with her husband, daughter and dog.  When not painting or exhibiting at art festivals, she loves to travel the world, decorate and drink a good glass of wine.
